Introducing Action Acres Farm

The pasture at Action Acres

April 23, 2008 – Great news. I have often taken pictures from the road of  a wonderful farm in Salem, N.Y., which is actually called Action Acres and Bubby Carleton, the owner and farmer, has graciously given me permission to take photos there anytime I want, throughout the summer and fall.
The farm is a wonderland – pastures, barns, cows, a German Shepherd named Nixon, who also answers to the name of Mason,  tractors, trucks, engines, feeders, cables and hoses, tractors,  old cars, mowers, engines and buckets.
Bubby warns me not to go into the pasture yet, as there is a bull there who would make me regret it.
I am heading back there tomorrow to talk to Buddy and his friend Courtney, who loves dogs.
I love this farm. It is a photographer’s dream, and even the cows have character,  I will try and do justice to it. Buddy is out planting and plowing this weekend and I will be looking for him. I hope to spend a lot of time at Action Acres in the coming months. Below, the office at the farm, from which Buddy presides on the right. Also please note Nixon the guard dog in the foreground. He was watching me closely, but not necessarily aggressively.
Buddy said he didn’t think he would eat me.
