April 22, 2008 – Who fascinates me with her mysterious and elusive appearances in the big barn, where she seems to be waiting for me, and dancing for me. She is a sweet thing, and loves to be petted and even stops eating to greet me and purr madly. Days go by without my seeing her, and I worry about her, but I also understand the independent ways of this formerly feral creature and just when I begin to think I might not see her again, she is in the barn, dancing for me when I come in. I do not understand her, or pretend to know her, but we do have this connection, and it is strong, even if I grasp little about it. Cats are not like dogs, this much I know.
Always, it seems to me they are ultimately their own masters.
