15 April

Meet Mary Kellogg, cuddle dogs, get free photos and books

by Jon Katz

April 15, 2008 – I told my wife that I was in love with an older woman, and she said “good luck to her, I hope she likes to buy hay and chewbones.” I asked Mary Kellogg if she would run off to Mexico with me, but she said thanks, she’d really rather live alone.
But I do love Mary, and am enthralled with her poetry, which is being published by Bedlam Farm Books in conjunction with the Troy Bookmakers. “My Place On Earth” is coming out in May, but Mary will be previewing poems from the book at 7 p.m. April 22 at the Berlin, N.Y., Public Library (518 658 – 2231). I will be introducing her, and Izzy and Lenore will be along to provide fellowship, and the Library will be raffling some signed copies of my books and some of my photos, which will be matted.  Mary’s book will not be on sale yet.
The library is sponsoring the event in part to celebrate National Poetry Month.
Mary is extraordinarily gifted, and this is an important night for her, and for the many people who love her and her work. Come if you can. Poetry, dogs, free books and photos.
Mary will read from her poems, but will probably not run off to Mexico with any of you. Your loss.
