April 2, 2008 – The donkeys are inherently spiritual creatures with a rich Biblical and spiritual history – see the cross on Jesus back? When I come into the pasture, they all cluster around and press against me and I scratch their heads and sometimes, sing a song or two to them – Johnny Cash this morning. They seem to enjoy it, though they prefer cookies. Jeannette simply presses Jesus’ head down if she thinks I have a cookie, so he can’t move.
  Jeannette is the leader of the donkeys, and all of them defer to her. She is not above biting me on the butt or sticking her nose into my jacket pocket if I do not have a cookie.
