I’m pleased to kick off this portrait series with my beautiful dogs, each remarkable in their own way. Several of you have needled me that I periodically announce that each of my dogs is the greatest dog I have had or know, and this is true, in an odd way. I often feel that way about each of them. Lenore’s eyes are the most revealing, I think, in that they capture the essence of her: love and attention. She is as alert as she is loving, two great qualities in a dog. Next, I think I’ll do Elvis, Luna and Harold. I reserve the right to take more than one portrait, but this is a good way to start. I will spread them over the next month or so, and then obsess on something else.
