March 1, 2008 – Welcome to March. Despite the snow on the ground, Spring is surging everywhere, buds, the animals are beginning to graze right through the snow, and there are songbirds all over the place. The animals live by their own clock, and snow doesn’t matter to them. I have not seen the ground since before Thanksgiving, and I think I will not miss much about this winter, except for the opportunity it gave me to grow, learn and change.
Went to pick up my camera this morning, and the fix was minor. It’s a great camera, and I hope to do justice to it. I’ve become a Canon freak, trawling through some websites, yakking with other Canon freaks. Life is strange, in that a short while ago, I didn’t know what an 18 mm lens was, and know I talk about my lens all the time. I get the most wonderful feedback when I take a photo, hearing from all sorts of photographers scolding me, praising me, educating me, challenging me to think before I shoot, pointing out things I didn’t know, didn’t see. It’s how you grow, I think. Always good advice, and I appreciate it.
More and more, despite life’s disappointments, twists and hurts, I have come to believe deeply in the generousity and kindness of the human spirit. We are sometimes disappointed, often profoundly so, but I see the true light over and over again, that signal to the world. And I look for it in my photos. Sometimes, I even get a picture of it. ):
