November 26, 2007 – Rainy, cold. Went to Troy, N.Y. to see the Troy Bookmakers about the book “Paying Attention” I’m doing with Anthony. It will be published in January, 2008, available from the Troy Bookmakers in a few weeks ([email protected]) and at other bookstores after that. Anthony and I plan to do some touring in February to talk about the book, an illustrated account of his experience with ADD and other issues that he graciously allowed me to capture in photographs. The experience made me into a photographer, something now an enormous part of my life. We will shortly have a “Pay Attention” webpage attached to this site, and to photosbyjonkatz.com under construction. “Pay Attention” has more than 70 pictures, and text by Anthony and me.The book is being edited by Maria Heinrich, and she has some exciting ideas about the graphics and design.
For the first time in my life, I think I captured a riveting story in photos, rather than only words. I hope so.
Above, I finally got a shot of a chicken roosting, something tough to do in a barn at night. The chickens retired early due to the rainstorm going on all day, and I got a shot of two of them as they settled in for the night. Chickens move all the time, and are tough to get a picture of. Like the other animals, they settle in beautifully when there’s bad weather, vegging out until things improve.
