Photo show this weekend to benefit the Artisans of Salem

by Jon Katz

October 24, 2007 – Lenore and I will be at the Artisans of North Main Gallery, 196 Main Street, Salem, N.Y., (518 854 3506) for a photo show this weekend. Maybe Izzy too. We’ll be at the gallery from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday and my photos and those of photographer Peter Hanks, a photographer/farmer and good friend will be shown on Friday and Saturday along with works of the other talented artists in the group: Shale Mountain Art, Borderland Quilts, Shurshot Digital Imaging, Bear Pottery Studio, African Trade Beads, Lali Sculptures and Prints, Quarry Ridge Alpacas, Fiber Kingdom and Peter Hanks Photography.
Peter has taken most of the pictures of Bedlam Farm and its animals that I’ve been hauling around all over the country and he took the great cover shot of Izzy for “Dog Days” as well as the other photos inside the book. He is an inspiration to me, a reason I got my own digital camera.
I am quite proud to be showing pictures with him. The other artists are part of Salem’s burgeoning artistic community, an elemental part of the town’s renaissance.
The show is a celebration of art and agriculture in Salem, and the two live side by side here. Come if you can. The leaves are still pretty wondrous.
