October 20, 2007 – Cloudy, warm. I’m tired. A long book tour, a busy and draining fall. I will be happy when the colder weather comes, good writing time. I’m plowing ahead with my next book and, as usual, wrestling to get going. Rose is still at the vet, abrasions, fever, soreness. Dr. Meyer says she can come home on Monday, but he’s keeping her there to get some rest. My friend Audrey is coming together with her new border collie Maya, and I’m going to take their portrait together. Hope to see a movie this weekend. I feel I have drifted a bit from the spirituality, calm and centeredness life here offers. Too busy, too many dramas, too many phone calls, too much e-mail. Need to step back and center down, be with friends, take walks, think and write. Spirituality really withers if it’s untended. I’ve been neglecting mine. Today we take down the art at Art Harvest, which was, by almost any standard, a great success. We all had a blast, raised $2,000 for Hospice, and Anthony sold one of his sculptures. Won’t have too many better weeks than that. Now, Lenore is snoring at my feet, Izzy is under the desk, and Emma is on the porch eating all the rawhide she stole from Lenore.
