September 15, 2007 – Cold, cloudy, drizzly. Pasture coming back to life. The Art Harvest may hit road later this year. Requests in from the Georgi Museum in Shushan, and, possibly, the Manchester Council for the Arts in Vermont. Also talking to the Pember Museum in Granville. So we four – me (photographs), Anthony Amstrong (concrete sculpture and art), Maria Heinrich (fiber art) might go on tour after the initial Art Harvest scheduled for October 13-14 at Gardenworks in Salem, N.Y. (518 854 3250). I’ll be there with the other three to talk at 2 p.m. both days and to hang around. We will sell sculptures, poems, photographs to benefit Friends of Hospice. Gardenworks will sell all sorts of stuff, including cider, cider donuts, gourmet cheese selected by Rob, flowers, crafts, paintings and produce. Neat weekend, come if you can. We are four friends helping one another create and show our art, most of us for the first time. Below, Mary Kellog, poet extraordinaire at work on her Hebron farm. She will read from her amazing new poems at Art Harvest. I will explain my pictures. Anthony will talk about his sculptures. Maria will be hanging around spinning things. Paula, note: I am in love with Mary, an older woman.
This weekend is about many things..friendship, support, art, courage, and mostly, I think, about four people who are willing to take a bit of a jump and leap in public. I love them all. We are all holding one another up, pushing and encouraging each other. It is a miracle to me to know such great people. Where have they been all my life?
