Quilt, Fiber Dress “Yes.No.” for Art Harvest, “Four Friends Share Their Art” October 13-14

by Jon Katz

September 11, 2007 – Cloudy, cool. I have come to love this strange dress hanging in my studio barn, the work of my friend and artist Maria Heinrich. This is one of the works that will be shown at Gardenworks, Salem, N.Y., (518 854-3250), along with Mary Kellogg’s poems, my pictures and the concrete sculptures of Anthony Armstrong, shown elsewhere on this site. I visit the dress several times a week. Maria calls it “Yes.No.” and she also made the beautiful quilt hanging behing it, which served as so sweet a backdrop for this picture. Poems and pictures will be sold (Maria hasn’t decided yet about her fiber art) to benefit Friends of Hospice. Gardenworks will also be selling donuts, cider, pumpkins, cheeses and pasta, and all sorts of good farm stuff. Come if you can.
