Feeding time for Minnie and Fiber Art

by Jon Katz

July 29, 2007 – Muggy, sticky. Izzy and I went out to the carriage barn in search of good pictures and to feed Minnie, the feral kitten who has grown more affectionate, but keeps to herself and has moved into the carriage barn across the street after numerous, loud squabbles with Mother. She wraps herself around my legs and loves to be scratched, then vanishes into the recesses of the big barn, sometimes for days. She waits for me every night, when Izzy and I come out with a can of cat food. Then I scratch her while she eats, and then she vanishes again. I am growing fond of this mysterious and independent creature, only partly domesticated.
I put this spindle on the barn stairs to try and get a picture for the poster for Maria’s work at the art show in October, and Minnie kept hopping in and out of the picture, so I just decided to shoot it anyway. Looked kind of neat to me.
