Abstract Mystical Art Journey Far Away. Come See Iris Land, As Deep As I Could Get . Coming When Others Called Me, I Was Blind

by Jon Katz

Doing as others told me,

I was blind.

Coming when others called me,

I was lost.

Then I left everyone,

myself as well.

Then I found everyone, myself as well.”    –

Rumi.

Sing it, Rumi.

(On cold and rainy days, the Iphone gets to dance. On sunny days, it’s the Leica’s turn.) Feature shot: the Dance.

For The Cambridge Pantry, Let’s Do A Bit Of Good: Refried Beans And Chocolate Chip Muffins, Urgent Item (Yes!) Toothpaste

by Jon Katz

Today, Sarah is asking for two popular items (three, counting the urgent one, toothpaste): Refried Beans, Betty Crocker Chocolate Chip Muffins, and Colgate toothpaste for the urgent item. Making sure the family brushes is essential. We are making it possible and simple to do.

(Photo above: Sarah in the freezer unloading boxes of food. It’s not easy work.)

Sarah’s items for today (urgent one below)

Chocolate Chip Muffin Mix, 6.5 oz, Pack of 9, by Betty Crocker, $13.41.

Old El Paso Traditional Canned Refried Beans, 1 Can, 16 Oz (Pack of 12), $15.48.

(Sarah makes a pie for every Pantry volunteer on their birthday. It’s Jack’s turn today; he drives the trucks that pick up food and produce from the food bank.)

Urgent Item:

Colgate Max Fresh Whitening Toothpaste with Mini Strips, 6.3 oz (Pack of 4), $10.65.

(Unpacking after the truck arrives from the food bank: to the shelves!)

The  Amazon Cambridge Pantry Urgent Wish List is accessible anytime, day or night. Click on the links here or use the green button at the bottom of every blog post. Every item on the wish list is urgent and updated several times daily.  Some people are adopting favored items and sending them when they can. Thanks for the messages; the pantry volunteers greatly appreciate them.  It’s hard and demanding work.

Good Morning, Bedlam Farm. Just Another Day. Wow, Surprise Winds And Cold. Still… Maria Saves A Blue Jay From The Jaws Of Zip

by Jon Katz

Marriage, By Rumi:

May this marriage be full of laughter,

And every day a paradise.

May this marriage be a seal of compassion,

for here and hereafter. May this marriage

have a fair face and a good name.

may this marriage be as welcome as the full moon

in the night sky.”

Thank you, Rumi. This is my marriage.

The wind was suddenly howling, and it was cold. We were surprised.

Zip had a lost Blue Jay trapped in a window sill when Maria came in, scooped the bird out of the window, carried it outside the barn, and threw it into the air. The bird took off like a rocket; Zip is pissed off and still looking. He takes no prisoners inside of the barn. I’m always amazed at Maria’s skill and ease with birds and other animals when they get into trouble. The bird was happy to be held.

The White Hen is teaching me things about graceful dying without complaint.

Cold or hot, windy, rainy or snowy, the day begins with manure being scraped out of the barn and scattered over the pasture.

Four Oak Leaves, A Pillow From Maria

by Jon Katz

Maria made one of her pillows for me, and I love it and use it. It does make a difference, especially when I am sitting quietly and thinking, reading, or meditating. She calls it a holding pillow, and that is what it is. I wouldn’t peek at the news without it.

The pillow shown here is called “Four Oak Leaves” and is sold. Many people are asking for it (maria@fullmoonfiberart.com).

This is a perfect thing to have for these times. I am grateful for it, and there is a list of people who want one. The pillows cost $85 plus shipping, and they are one of those things only Maria can make. She puts her heart and soul into each one; they are a mission.

They are not going up on Etsy; you must call or e-mail Maria to get one; you can follow them at www.fullmoonfiberart.com.

Why I Feed The Birds

by Jon Katz

Why I Feed The Birds\by Richard Vargas

once
I saw my grandmother hold out
her hand cupping a small offering
of seed to one of the wild sparrows
that frequented the bird bath, she
filled with fresh water every day

she stood still
maybe stopped breathing
while the sparrow looked
at her, then the seed
then back as if he was
judging her character

he jumped into her hand
began to eat
she smiled
