WBZ - Dan Rhea

A day in Boston. Interviews all day,  including an interview with Rob Mitchell, host of “Pages To People,” a talk and signing at the Morse Institute Library in Natick, an hour on WBZ with Dan Rhea from 10 to 11. Heard different perspectives on grief. An elderly couple are afraid to get another dog  because they spent $5,000 on surgical procedures for their last one five years and are afraid they might do that again. Dan Rhea lost his Springer a year ago and he said it was the worst day of his life. A woman lost her troubled rescue dog and cried because people keep telling her she was well rid of the dog.

On this subject, people need to tell their stories and I need to listen. I put them in the cup, not in me. People feel so much pain over the loss of their animals they are seeking understanding and relief. I answered honestly. I believe the best relief for grieving is another dog when people are ready. That’s what I’ve found in my research. Nothing else comes close. Interviews Wednesday morning, then back to the farm. Friday night, Battenkill Books, Cambridge, N.Y., 7 p..m. Sunday, 3 p.m., talk and signing at Northshire Books Manchester, then the Vermont Book Tour. Back at the farm tomorrow afternoon.
