Maria caught the light on the bookshelf this morning, and I loved this photo, a look at a part of my life, a writer’s life. I wondered if there will be bookshelves for too much longer, and whether people will have images like this. There’s a book manuscript, Aquinas, Campbell, all benchmarks from my world, things that shape and reflect my ideas. I am not a believer in nostalgia – things change, and creative people, above all, must change with them. But I love looking at this shelf, love the sun caressing it. I wonder… This is the tragedy of technology, things gained, things lost.
