The farm wife doesn’t just sit around making quilts all day. She tosses hay bales around the barn, shovels manure, hammers the ice and snow off the gates, hauls firewood around, brushes donkeys and dogs, scours stoves. And makes quilts and potholders. The farm wife, a former girlfriend,  is appreciated.
