Many Americans are disconnected from the life of animals and the animal world, and one of the ways many connect is to rescue or “save” animals, something that does not ever happen in their natural world. Perhaps this is part of the new conversation we are trying to have with animals, to help us heal from the fearful and unnatural way many of us have come to live. For many of the people I meet, most fears are among money, a consequence of living the Corporation Nation, which uses fear to market medicine, security, housing and many of the things that we buy and don’t need.
