End of day

End of day

As much as we think we know what animals are thinking, at the end of the day they have their own mysteries, rythyms and routines. Sometime after dark, no matter what the weather, the sheep began their slow and herky-jerky trek up to the top of the pasture. It takes them an hour to get to the top. They graze, dawdle, circle here and there. But they all always end up in the same place, the top of the hill. Always. This photo capture a bit of the feel of their nightly trek. Nobody knows why sheep do that. The bottom of the hill never seems to be good enough.
