Stopping for Lila

In this culture, there are no babysitters and the kids are not left at home. They are as much a part of the fair as the cows, always present, in laps, sitting near cows, getting pulled around in wagons. Ed’s demeanor is gruff and businesslike, but he is a squish around his grandkids. He pauses briefly from barn chores to pick Lila up.
