The 4-H kids began arriving Sunday afternoon, getting hay to their cows and cleaning up after them. It is very touching to see this kids, who will be sleeping at the fair all week, brushing and grooming their cows, and curled up sleeping next to them at night. They work for months before the fair, and harder still when they get there. These are kids from family farms, and listening to them and their mothers and fathers last night, there is a keen sense of struggle and worry. They have all had tough years, and it is hard to imagine too many scenes like this in the future. Something important will be lost.
