Ipad note.I can blog from the Ipad, but can’t yet upload a photo or figure out how to do it. We are working on it.
For more than 30 years, I’ve been looking for a group of men to get together and have lunch or dinner with, to talk about our lives, about being good husbands and fathers, struggling to understand the world. I don’t want to argue about politics – I am allergic to the stridence of people on the “left” or “right” as if there were two ways of looking at the world. We are in late middle-age, we understand the realities of our lives, we look back on our successes and failures, we share our emotions and encourage one another.
Every week we meet in a cafe in a nearby town. We drink water and fruit juice and tofu sandwiches. They gave me a bachelor party the week before I got married. They can’t wait to see my Ipad. We trade books and talk about ideas. I love these men, and the experience of talking to them as brothers. It took a long time. Men don’t make time for talking or friendship often. I am glad we are.
