My dogs are not allowed on the sofa. Are yours?

A thousand words
Taken with a 100mm Canon macro lens with Image Stabilizer by hand. ISO 100. SS 1/160, aperture f/3.5 inĀ morning sunlight. Used Aperture to tone down the hot light, and bring out the doorknob detail.
One of the many things I love about photography is that it helps me to see things I would otherwise miss. Like these 150 year old doorknobs and door that lead from the farmhouse living room to the upstairs. There is more beauty in these doorknobs, and more history than in many entire buildings going up now. I had to wait for the sunlight to hit it just right.
A photo is worth a thousand words, sometimes.
I bought the first stock of my life today.
A couple of hundred dollars. It reminds me of my horse racing days, when I gambled for a living.
I’m going to be a bit more proactive about money, I think. Going to sign photos for my photo show on January 9, and then Mara and I will spend the evening at an inn we love in Vermont. Wrote all morning. I love to write.
Blue Truck, In The Snow
Old farm trucks are a thing of beauty to me, which makes me odd, I guess. They are all over the place, and their colors are rich and deep. And they tell a lot of stories.
Frieda’s Spot
Frieda spent some years running loose in the woods, chasing rabbits, being cold and hungry. She has a favorite spot now, right in front of the wood stove. It’s bitter cold now, and she cherishes her little corner. She camps there all day.
