Old Seattle is a photographer’s dream
I love Portland and Seattle. There is natural beauty, teeming culture, and an openness and warmth among many of the people I met. I am learning things on this book tour.
I seem to have become a celebrity sometime in the past year or so. I had a stalker one day on the book tour, people pressing invitations, tears, letters and photos on me, and many good wishes, encouraging words and compliments. This is new terrain, and I have to figure out how to deal with it.
It was also humbling, gratifying and ratifying. People are ready to talk about animals and spirituality, perhaps more so than before. The emotional geography between people and companion animals is extraordinary, and intensifying. We are all trying to figure it out, and I wrote “Soul Of A Dog” in part to get some conversations going, and to raise some issues about perspective, and these conversations around the country feel just like that which is, for a writer, quite wonderful.
I’ll post more photos and write about this over the weekend.
