Kinney Road, this afternoon
October 1, 2008 – “Izzy & Lenore,” my new book, debuted on two bestseller lists today: The New England Independent Booksellers (NEBA) at No. 13 and the New York Times Bestseller List at Number 19.
It was something of a minor miracle, I think, given the drubbing in bookstores and elsewhere this week caused by the near meltdown on Wall Street. A significant part of hitting these two prestigious lists were the readers of this blog, who helped give the book a good push in a very scary week for any author. A lot of people are suffering a lot more than I am this week, and there are many more important things happening than my book, but it is important to me and my life.
So thanks. The reviews have been great, and so have the crowds, and although the week was a bit strange, I’m glad to be back on road Thursday, doing interviews, some appearances and ending up in Saratoga Springs at 7 p.m. Thursday at Border’s Books on Broadway. Izzy is coming along.
Although I am often distracted by self-absorption, chores, confusion, fear and a lot of other things, I am very lucky, appreciative of this farm, and the people, animals and experiences that give me strength and nourishment as a writer and a photographer. And as a blogger, something that still surprises me to be. Feels like more people than me hit those lists.
