September 30, 2008 – Every day, there is one leaf that catches the last light of the sun in a particular way. I always see this leaf, and perceive it as a dramatic moment. The sun moves fast this year, and if I don’t have the camera and tripod set up, I might miss the shot. The leaves seem almost radiant, as they are about to rot. I am thinking about winter photography, and the bleak icescapes and trees I shot last year. This year, I am considering a plunge into black and white, and perhaps some portraits and indoor still lifes.
I have a bunch of interviews this week and next Monday I am heading to Omaha, Milwaukee and Chicago. Then a couple more weeks of traveling, then back to the farm to polish up Soul of A Dog. My hay for the winter is due any day.
