July 27, 2008 – This one needed to be centered, as I had to go where the light took me, and the dogs and I found an enchanted corner of the forest, and it was dark and I sat on an old stone fence, as usual, hauling a ton of equipment around – tripod, camera bag, lenses, camera, extenders, and the dogs arrayed themselves around me in a circle and stared curiously as a beam of light just appeared through the forest canopy and lit up this leaf, in a curious way, and I hurried to set up all my equipment, dropping things, being gnawed on by bugs, sinking into mud from the heavy rains, listen to the water soak into the earth all around me, and the dogs watch me now, as I take photos, trying to figure it out and seem mesmerized, rooting me on I think, and Rose always comes up and puts her nose to my leg, and I don’t know what she is thinking, but I always hear it this way: good with it, do it, I am right here with you, watching your back.
And I got it.
