Mary Kellogg reads her poems to a full house while Izzy works the crowd
July 10, 2008 – Mary Kellogg drew a full house at Borders Books in Saratoga Springs last night, and she delivered another beautiful reading, answered questions, while Izzy soaked up the love. Lenore, who is sore from too much running around, stayed home to rest. I’ve been running the Love Dog around too much.
Mary read from her new book “My Place On Earth,” her first collection of poetry, and my first published photos. The book is being sold by The Troy Bookmakers online, and in local bookstores.
I’ve been tagging along to introduce Mary, and also to answer questions about Izzy and his hospice work, which is drawing a lot of interest. We will all be at the Pember Library, 33 West Main Street, Granville, N.Y.,
(518 642-2525) at 6:30 p.m., Wednesday, July 23rd, at Gardenworks in Salem, N.Y., at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 26th (518 854 – 3250), and at Red Fox Books in Glens Falls, N.Y., 28 Ridge Street (518 793-5352) at 7 p.m., Thursday, August 7. It is a pleasure to tour around with Mary, and as Izzy’s driver, it’s fun to bring him along. He is good at this.
It was very nice to meet a good e-mail friend, Sue from Austin, who drove up North to vacation and meet me and Izzy. I can usually spot e-mail friends in an audience, as they smile as if they know me, and they do.

Publishing notes: “Out Of The Shadows,” a text and photo account of my brush with madness, will be published later this year. It is finished, but I am holding off publishing it due to Mary’s book, which is selling very well, and because my next book, “Izzy and Lenore: Two Dogs, An Unexpected Journey, and Me,” has been moved up to late September, and I don’t want to have two books out at once. My book tour so far includes Washington, D.C., New York City, New Jersey, Milwaukee, Chicago, Omaha, San Antonio and Austin.
I will do a joint reading with Mary at Northshire Books in Manchester, Vt. on Saturday, September 27th, the pub date.
