Half the fun of Shearing Day is “The Plan,” the idea for shearing sanely, which never works, but is a good starting point until the chaos descenes. The sheep are all the rear, then we pull them into the middle room, one by one, with crooks and dog and people, and Fred shears them while telling stories, and then each sheep is released out into the pasture through the door on the other side. Fred saves the wool carefully for spinners, and reports on the health of each ewe. Rose is in the room, for back up. This never works, but somehow we handle it.
