January 21, 2008 – Lulu is my girl, one of my favorite creatures on the farm, sweet, bright, curious, gentle. She was hiding amidst the other donkeys yesterday trying to avoid Ken Norman the farrier, and even though she didn’t want to get trimmed, she submitted, as always, avoiding trouble. Goats make you  smile, and sheep make you calm, but donkeys connect to the spirituality inherent in the life of animals, and in this ancient companion of people.
