27 December

Planning

by Jon Katz

December 27, 2007 – Yo. Snowing, of course. Nasty.
Planning some things for next year. In the next week, camping in Vermont for a weekend, perhaps next weekend. Got to reserve a cabin tomorrow. Plan to camp a lot next year and am determined to get myself in and out.
Saw three movies this week, and loved two – Charlie Wilson’s War and The Country of Old Men (the Coen brothers). Like “Juno” but wasn’t as crazy about it as I expected to be. Planned to see many more movies next year.
Plan to get Bedlam Farm Books going (new logo coming soon) with first book, “Out Of The Shadows” and plan to get better books for my feet.
Plan another Art Harvest for the Spring, if Meg Southerland agrees.
Plan to spend a week in Brooklyn, visiting my daughter, Emma, exploring that amazing borough.
Plan in the next week or so to finish my next book “Izzy and Lenore” and then to go drive off somewhere for a week or so with Izzy, maybe Lenore. Lenore is turning out to be an amazing ride-a-round dog. She loves the car and will go anywhere.
Plan to see more of Mary Kellogg, the reclusive poet of North Hebron. Plan to publish her poetry book, and Bill and Maria Heinrich’s tome on restoration.
Plan to teach creative writing at a local high school for interested kids, if that works out. Plan to work – for pay – at a Granville nursing home once or twice a week. At night.
Plan to do more hospice work. And, perhaps to do a Bedlam Farm photo book on hospice work w/Izzy.
Plan to start a book on Rose.
Plan to launch photosbyjonkatz.com in the next month, and to revamp Bedlamfarm.com a bit.
Plan to take much better photos than ever before.
Plan to be as good a father, husband, and a friend as I can be.
  Plan to blog daily, faithfully.
Plan to commune more with donkeys.
Plan to give Annie a raise (done).
Plan to bring Lenore into hospice work.
Plan to do a journey with Lesley, and to learn from her.
Plan to get some acupuncture without taking any clothes off.
Plan to aggravate Paula into putting more graphics into her book.
Plan to have dinner every week without Becky, and to get her to take me canoeing.
Plan to make my sister Jane a part of my life again, as has already happened.
Have accepted an invitation by a search and rescue group to go into northern Vermont woods on a mission.
Plan to not be depressed, to puff myself up and out like a balloon, and to renew my ideas of trust, commitment, service and to live my myth. Got to figure that last one out a bit.
